Summer MTB Time, by Greg
Even though the PIR Short Track is in full swing, work and personal scheduling has seen me miss the first 3 races. Yesterday though, DeyShaun, Naiqwan, Fergus and I headed out to Brown's Camp to get some trail time in before today's race, the first ST of the year for both Fergus and me.
It was really great to see how much DeyShaun and Naiqwan have improved on the mountain bikes. They are both becoming very good descenders, and are getting more confident and skilled at riding and carrying speed through technical trail sections. Here are some pictures from the day:

Bronze for an Angel!
Naiqwan "Angel" Pellman, a 14yr. old Junior, raced all the events as a Cat 5 Senior in a 3 day weekend marathon call the OBRA Senior Track Championships, and won a Bronze medal in the Match Sprints.
Showing two laps of big speed in the 3 and 3/4 laps Kilo TT, Friday night, even the announcer took notice.
But it was the full schedule of Match sprints the next day, Saturday that revealed the true Sprinter.
In one of the "3-up" sprints his team-mate Dey Shaun Lee helped keep back the opposition by not chasing his teammate, confusing the lone chaser.
Both Juniors raced in the Points race together in a field combined with the Cat 4s. While they got shelled and lapped despite the efforts of blocking ex-teammates Cameron Duff and
The significance of this day is that our Juniors our able to race and hold their own in the Adult's divisions. While Dey Shaun has been showing signs of this new status starting with his winning of a point against New Zealand pro Aaron Tuckerman in the Thursday Points race two weeks before, this Championship weekend seals the deal.

Kisses for Grandma!
After racing in the Individual Time Trial against the cruelty of the watch, Cyclisme racers were thrilled by the hospitality of Grandma Hansen. Jake's Grandma Margaret can really lay out a spread, and aided by Uncle Mark on the grill and "Pop" on the social repartee, the scene was a blast.

Serendipitously, Jake's Grandparents live two miles away from the finish line of the State Time Trial in Peoria, Oregon.
Little Devin Morago almost went the distance to their home by accident when he didn't notice his race had ended. We found the kid pedalling down the road after we ran to pick up a thermos of coffee from Grandma earlier in the day.
It was a great Cyclisme gathering with the Gerwings, the new women's team, and elder Master Marc Brewer, but the Juniors were just beside themselves in the environment of food, drink, and Grandmotherly care. They didn't want to leave.

Division, she has also won so many
Open Women's category races at PIR that they gave her the green "Leader's" jersey.

Now courted by womens'powerhouse teams like BicycleAttorney and SorellaForte she would do well to come race for Word RCB where she would be a well respected Captain on an up-beat crew of up-and coming Champions.
"I just want some women that will go out with me and do the training miles," Daphne says.

Track, PIR, Short Track, and Tabor are racing!
Training on the velodrome,
Cyclisme racers are getting ready to put the Word-RCB name on the board at the double point OBRA State Champs Fri/Sat/Sun.

Every week there is a lot of racing. Mielle, herself a green jersey winner at PIR, has changed up and is now covered in mud and winning on the short track.
Meanwhile her teammate Sarah Hunter just went off the front for three laps at PIR on a windy night only to get caught by one chaser in a shattered field, finishing 2nd.
Veteran road captain Catherine Cooper is sprinting her way to the top, and leads the Cat 4 Track BAR heading into the State Track Champs at Alpenrose.
